Our DC community performance of “The Vagina Monologues” is part of V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Everyone involved is a volunteer, so all proceeds will go to our two worthy causes: our local beneficiary, Courtney’s House, and this year’s V-Day spotlight campaign, the women of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
2010 will mark our third annual DC community performance of “The Vagina Monologues” by Eve Ensler. Please join us as we raise awareness to end violence against women.
We will perform “The Vagina Monologues” on March 6 and 7 and sponsor a number of awareness and fundraising events leading up to those dates. Tickets can be bought online today!
Courtney’s House will use funds raised through our production to open the first group home in Washington, DC for domestic sex trafficked girls between the ages of 12 and 17. Courtney’s House is committed to providing a safe space and loving home environment in a therapeutic and emotionally healing atmosphere. Courtney’s House is dedicated to the mission of ending domestic sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of all children and focuses efforts on providing long-term group home and providing direct services.
Our efforts also benefit this year’s national V-Day spotlight campaign, a global movement to call attention to the wide-scale atrocities committed against women and girls in the eastern DRC. Ten percent of our proceeds will go to this campaign.
This production is affiliated with the Truman Scholars Association.
